This summer I am doing an independent study so that I can
graduate early and I chose to focus my project around a dragon boat team called
Pink Steel. This is no ordinary dragon
boat team. To become a member of
this team you must be a breast cancer survivor, just like my incredibly brave,
strong and amazing mom. Needles to
say, these women have been through it all from heart breaking doctor visits to
chemotherapy and countless surgeries.
Thanks to Pink Steel they have become a support system for each other
and it’s truly amazing to watch all 22 of them paddle in synch down the
Allegheny River.
I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am to work with
these women for the rest of the summer!
